Another milestone
mmmm...Gotta love that new web site smell. A new website is more than just a makeover, it's about ease in gathering information, efficiency and customer service. In an industry that is often stereotyped as old fashioned and from another era, it sometimes raises eyebrows when we talk at great length about the importance of technology and how it can be incorporated into what we do. Can you believe that when I first arrived here, audiences couldn't buy single tickets online? Would you also believe that it wasn't until the flood when we added the capacity to donate electronically? Finally for the first time, patrons can order subscriptions on line, and be updated regularly on what's happening in our musical world. The whole way we can communicate with our patrons is being revolutionized. Don't get me wrong, there is no substitute for the personal "human" touch. With our new capabilities, stopping by the office to order your tickets can be crossed off your errand list and done from the comfort of your own home.
That brings me to Burana at Brucemore. This thing is going to be HUGE--roughly 230+ people on stage, thousands of people on the lawn and some music that will be finger lickin' good (did I mention to bring a picnic). Events like these are all about community and bringing people together to experience something special that's larger than the sum of it's parts. That's what we do! This is where technology comes in. When people order on-line we can begin to communicate directly with the individual to let them know about future events, ticket discounts, and even allow us to steer individuals in the future towards the type of music that they will most likely appreciate, and away from certain concerts that might not be to their taste. Thanks to technology it's no longer "one size fits all" but now the beginning of a tailored experience that is more likely to maximize your satisfaction. All we need now is to develop our e-mail data base. In future blogs stay tuned about how you can help us turn first timers into long term supporters. See you at Brucemore...
