There are many opportunities for instrumental lessons at the Orchestra Iowa School. Children may start as young as three years of age in violin, viola, cello, harp, flute or piano instruction. Older children and adults may also study bass, guitar, clarinet, saxophone, horn, and low brass instruments.
Because curriculum is individualized for each student, people of all skill levels can enjoy the benefits of lessons at the School, whether beginning study, progressing in instrumental skills, working to prepare for an All-State or college audition, or simply playing for the enjoyment of making music.
Beginning students (preschool/ early elementary or Suzuki Pre-Twinkle through Book 1) should register for 30-minute lessons.
Intermediate students (middle school or Suzuki Book 2 and 3) should register for 45-minute lessons.
Advanced students (high school/ adult or Suzuki Book 4 and up) should register for 60-minute lessons.
