Chamber Music

The Orchestra Iowa School's Chamber Music offerings give students the opportunity to perform repertoire of various styles while focusing on technical skills, listening, and ensemble playing. Designed to teach the fundamentals of chamber music performance, coachings focus on rhythmic accuracy, listening, dynamics, and the interaction of musicians in the ensemble.

A variety of repertoire and styles will be explored and ensembles will be given performance opportunities throughout the year.

Ensembles include string quartets, piano trios, the double bass ensemble, and harp ensemble. Students may register as a pre-formed group or be placed by the School.

Each year, ensembles are selected through competition as Honors Ensembles In Residence (HEIRS). In addition to regular coachings, these young musicians will represent the Orchestra Iowa School in numerous performance opportunities throughout the season. The ensembles selected will receive a partial scholarship for the year.
