Prater                             Promise
Vaughan Williams      Lark Ascending
Mozart                            Requiem

Also playing Sunday, March 21 at 2 pm in Iowa City at West High School.

Come hear some of the most sublime and meditative music in the repertoire, beginning with Iowa composer Jeffrey Prater’s extremely personal and autobiographical work Promise. In the Lark Ascending, Vaughan Williams finds inspiration not only in English folk themes, but in a poem by the English poet George Meredith. This orchestral romance offers an impressionistic image of the lark's song echoing throughout the English countryside. Finishing the program, Mozart’s Requiem is arguably the composer’s greatest achievement. Though left to others to complete after his untimely death, it remains to this day one of the most significant settings of the sacred text.
