Orchestra Iowa presents "Napoleon Complex" - September 26 & 27

September 08, 2009
Cedar Rapids, IA. – Orchestra Iowa presents “Napoleon Complex”, Saturday, September 26 at 8 p.m. at Sinclair Auditorium on the Coe College campus, and Sunday, September 27 at 2 p.m. at West High School in Iowa City.

Single tickets for “Napoleon Complex”, sponsored by Friends of Orchestra Iowa, are $14-$24-$39 and may be purchased online at www.orchestraiowa.org or by calling 319.366.8203 or 800.369.TUNE (8863). Tickets are also available through the Orchestra Iowa Ticket Office, 119 Third Avenue SE, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.– 5 p.m.

Shauna Rolston will be Maestro Timothy Hankewich’s guest for the “Insight” discussion before the concert. “Insight” will begin at 7 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium, and 1 p.m. at West High School and is open to all patrons in attendance.

Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony, a one-time personal tribute to Napoleon, is universally recognized as the single piece of music that moved Western civilization from the Classical period to the Romantic. Equally powerful is Elgar’s Cello Concerto, performed by Shauna Rolston, named by Musical America as a “Young Artist to Watch!”
