Orchestra Iowa presents "Urban Perspectives" - October 17 & 18
Cedar Rapids, IA. – Orchestra Iowa presents “Urban Perspectives”, Saturday, October 17 at 8 p.m. at Sinclair Auditorium on the Coe College campus, and Sunday, October 18 at 2 p.m. at West High School in Iowa City.
Single tickets for “Urban Perspectives”, sponsored by Aegon & US Bank, are $14-$24-$39 and may be purchased online at www.orchestraiowa.org or by calling 319.366.8203 or 800.369.TUNE (8863). Brahms' crowning masterpiece, Symphony No. 2, anchors this program that includes Falla's impressionistic piano nocturnes and Copland's haunting solo piece for trumpet, English Horn, and strings. Featuring University of Iowa piano faculty member Ksenia Nosikova.
Ksenia Nosikova will be Maestro Timothy Hankewich’s guest for the “Insight” discussion before the concert. “Insight” will begin at 7 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium, and 1 p.m. at West High School and is open to all patrons in attendance.
Founded in April 1921, Orchestra Iowa is one of the oldest symphony orchestras in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. Its 82 professional musicians perform more than 120 public performances throughout Eastern Iowa each year, many of which can be heard on Iowa Public Radio and seen on Iowa Public Television.
