Orchestra Iowa debut performance at the Elkader Opera House

Cedar Rapids, IA – Orchestra Iowa will perform Sunday, November 8 at 3 p.m. at the Elkader Opera House in Elkader, Iowa. The orchestra will present a program entitled “Neocons”, featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1.

Come hear why everything new is indeed old again, from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 that has many of the characteristics of Haydn, to the resurgence of Classicism heard in Stravinsky’s Pulcinella and Respighi’s Gli Uccelli.

Join Orchestra Iowa and Maestro Timothy Hankewich following the performance for a reception on stage! All patrons in attendance are welcome.

Founded in April 1921 as the Cedar Rapids Symphony, Orchestra Iowa is one of the oldest symphony orchestras in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. Its 82 professional musicians perform more than 120 public performances throughout Eastern Iowa each year, many of which can be heard on Iowa Public Radio and seen on Iowa Public Television.
