Orchestra Iowa debut performance at the Elkader Opera House
Cedar Rapids, IA – Orchestra Iowa will perform Sunday, November 8 at 3 p.m. at the Elkader Opera House in Elkader, Iowa. The orchestra will present a program entitled “Neocons”, featuring Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1.
Single tickets for Orchestra Iowa’s performance, sponsored by Alliant Energy, are $20 and may be purchased online at www.orchestraiowa.org or by calling 319.366.8203 or 800.369.TUNE (8863). Tickets are also available at Moser’s Pharmacy in downtown Elkader and at the door the day of the performance.
Come hear why everything new is indeed old again, from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 that has many of the characteristics of Haydn, to the resurgence of Classicism heard in Stravinsky’s
Pulcinella and Respighi’s
Gli Uccelli.
Join Orchestra Iowa and Maestro Timothy Hankewich following the performance for a reception on stage! All patrons in attendance are welcome.
Founded in April 1921 as the Cedar Rapids Symphony, Orchestra Iowa is one of the oldest symphony orchestras in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River.
