Orchestra Iowa presents "Neocons" - November 12 & 15

Cedar Rapids, IA – Orchestra Iowa presents “Neocons”, Thursday, November 12 at 8 p.m. at Sinclair Auditorium on the Coe College campus, and Sunday, November 15 at 2 p.m. at the Englert Theatre in Iowa City.

Come hear why everything new is indeed old again, from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 that has many of the characteristics of Haydn, to the resurgence of Classicism heard in Stravinsky’s Pulcinella and Respighi’s Gli Uccelli.

Join Maestro Timothy Hankewich and Orchestra Iowa musicians Benjamin Coelho, David Hempel and Volkan Orhon for the “Insight” discussion before the concert. “Insight” will begin at 7 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium, and 1 p.m. at the Englert Theatre and is open to all patrons in attendance.

Founded in April 1921, Orchestra Iowa is one of the oldest symphony orchestras in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. Its 82 professional musicians perform more than 120 public performances throughout Eastern Iowa each year, many of which can be heard on Iowa Public Radio and seen on Iowa Public Television.
