Join us in celebrating the holidays with music that captures the spirit of the season. From the triumphant opening of Bach’s
Christmas Oratorio to the glory of the Hallelujah chorus, this concert is destined to become a tradition for young and old alike.
Celebration of Carols showcases the Chamber Singers of Iowa City, the Espressivo Strings from the Preucil School, and the Orchestra’s own Discovery Chorus. Between musical selections, Joan Kjaer and John Ryal will speak the lessons associated with each carol.
Founded in April 1921, Orchestra Iowa is one of the oldest symphony orchestras in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. Its 82 professional musicians perform more than 120 public performances throughout Eastern Iowa each year, many of which can be heard on Iowa Public Radio and seen on Iowa Public Television.
